During the harvest season of 2001 Ivy, then 21 years of age,
enthusiastically phoned from the United States while working at
a wine cellar to say . . ." Dad, I want to make my own wine".

This is where Ivy's journey began.

With the following harvest her dream was realised in the garage on the
estate, owned by the Du Toit family for 5 generations.

Everything was done by hand, from the de-stemming to the crushing
of the grapes, and this saw the birth of the first 2001 estate bottled wine.
This wine was matured in small new French, American and Russian
oak barrels for 14 months, which ensured this limited release its own
unique and rich character.

During 2002 the first harvest was delivered to our own wine cellar,
only a few yards away from Ivy's garage....

In these barrels,
that's where it all started.

Ivy has gone from strenght to strenght, producing the Jason's Hill range and each year the best
selected wine goes under the trade mark Ivy du Toit.

2003 has been a year to remember, the highlight having been awarded the
Diners Club 2003 Young Winemaker of the Year Award.

In May 2004 Ivy was also the first recipient of the
South Africa's Woman Winemaker of the Year 2004 Award.
